Dental bonding, one of the many cosmetic dentistry services we offer in our Cincinnati office, applies a tooth-colored resin material to a broken or chipped tooth using a special light that hardens it to the surface. Anesthesia is usually not necessary unless some decayed area of the tooth needs to be repaired, the chip is near a nerve, or drilling is needed. Your dentist will use a shade guide so that the bonding matches the color of the rest of the tooth for a more natural look. Once the bonding material has hardened, the dentist further trims, shapes and polishes the bond to seamlessly match the rest of the tooth. Typically, the process takes 30 to 60 minutes.
