If you have a broken tooth, your Cincinnati dentist may recommend it be pulled or extracted. First, we’ll numb the tooth with a numbing agent so the procedure feels as comfortable as possible. We may give you a strong general anesthetic. Next, we’ll cut away gum and bone tissue that cover the broken tooth. Then we’ll gently rock the tooth back and forth using forceps to loosen it from your jawbone. Some hard to pull teeth will need to be removed in pieces. After the tooth is pulled, a blood clot will form in the socket. We’ll give you some gauze to bite down on and stop the bleeding. We may add some self dissolving stitches to seal up the cut. You may also be prescribed antibiotics to fight any resulting infection.
