This Futuristic, Kickstarter-funded Toothbrush

As dentist’s in Blue Ash, we are always on the lookout for innovations in the tooth-care industry. I have not yet looked at the Boie USA toothbrush, but their Kickstarter campaign appears to have succeeded – over 4,000 backers contributed, and now the company is accepting pre-orders: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1549048159/boie-usa-the-toothbrush-of-the-future

The company received nine times (9x) the amount of funding they had requested to begin shipping. Again, this article is not an endorsement, merely a look at what Boie USA is doing in this field.

Interchangeable heads

Rather than replacing the entire toothbrush, you merely replace the bristle head. Like a razor for which you change the blades but not the handle, this reduces the amount of waste involved.

Anti-bacterial bristles

Aggressive brushing is not only unnecessary – you don’t need to press hard to get plaque off. It can cause your gums to recede. This is a relatively “soft-bristled” toothbrush, and the bristles are made from an anti-microbial type of elastomer. Boie has added silver ions into the elastomer to limit the growth of bacteria.

Less abrasive material

The molded elastomer on the brush is designed to be less abrasive than typical nylon bristles.

I have yet to hold this toothbrush, but the curved handle is intended to reach difficult spots in the mouth. Over-the-counter toothbrushes often have curved necks; this brush is certainly not the only one to attempt such an approach to improve the brushing experience.
