Dentist Sponsors Students’ Overseas Travel
We like dentists.
Our team here gets along well with other dentist teams, and as a Blue Ash dentist located near Sharonville, we’re always curious to hear what dentists are up to in Boston or Chicago or Seattle.
It came as no surprise to discover a friendly dentist doing something very kind and generous in South Carolina.
Dr. Vicki Tatum, who has been practicing dentistry for 26 years in Charleston, S.C., has helped send hundreds of students on overseas travel and education ventures. As part of her local Rotary Club – St. Andrews Rotary Club 7770, to be exact – she has sent many South Carolina students on study abroad programs. Students she has assisted have gone to countries as wide-ranging as Spain, Bolivia, Sweden, and Peru.
Dr. Tatum and her family host foreign exchange students in their home through rotary exchange, the reciprocal process that allows the study-abroad programs to flourish.
In the 13 years that Tatum has worked on the exchange program, families and students have found enrichment. Vistas and viewpoints have been expanded, and each exchange allows for more students to deepen their empathy, their perspective on global culture, and their sense of adventure.
As a Sharonville dentist, it’s a thrill to see a Charleston dentist make such a marvelous impact on the lives of so many people.
If you are a student interested in study abroad, or a family interested in hosting foreign-exchange students during the school year, reach out to your local Rotary Club to find out more.
